The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join the Medical Stop Loss (HMO Re/PEI) team.  Under limited direction, The Executive Underwriter contributes to the growth and profitability of the product line through marketing, underwriting and managing of products and services on new and renewal accounts.  Risks may require special handling or unique coverages with various degrees of complexity.  Requires specialized knowledge of stop loss underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques to include coverage issues, product lines, marketing, relevant systems, and competition in the market place.  Establish and manage relationships with brokers and clients through strong strategic and marketing capabilities.  Consult and coordinate with Claims, Medical Management, Actuarial and other areas to deliver optimal solutions and services to the client.

Responsibilities:

Establishes and maintains relationships to facilitate marketing of Ironhealth medical stop loss products and services to the brokerage community.  Makes independent sales calls to market and cross market.
Reviews and negotiates policy terms and conditions including manuscript wording.
Underwrites targeted new and renewal business by reviewing and analyzing insured's (or prospective insured's) loss history, financials, and other pertinent information.
Makes independent marketing calls to brokers and prospective insureds.
Contributes to the development of marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus and broker intelligence.
Communicates with other product line underwriters and claims analysts in order to provide top level customer service.
Assists other members of the department including Underwriters, Associate Underwriters in product line and/or technical knowledge and development.
Performs related duties as requested to include, report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit.

QualificationsBachelor's degree or advanced degree or equivalent; 6+ years of underwriting experience
Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives to other persons in the organization for underwriting or training purposes
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues
Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
