Job Description: Position Summary: Guggenheim Securities is seeking an exceptional candidate to join as a sell-side Equity Research Associate or Vice President to help cover the Biotechnology sector.
This person will be responsible for following the progress of public/private Biotechnology companies and will support the research team in its efforts to analyze companies and make stock recommendations to institutional investor clients.
In addition to an advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.D.)
in the life sciences, the ideal candidate will have interest in equity research and financial modeling specifically in the Biotechnology sectors.
The position is located in Boston.
Essential Job Functions: Provide support to the Senior Analyst in analyzing individual Biotech companies and industry trends.Compose written company-focused and industry research reports and verbally present findings; draft reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news.Conduct primary research through industry sources including, but not limited to, expert interviews, financial analysis, due diligence of scientific and clinical data, and industry trends, company management and strategies.Organize physician calls for investors and investor events.Update analyst marketing handout regularly.Interact with the Firm's institutional sales force and investor clients.Respond to client and internal inquiries regarding research findings and directives.Preferred Qualifications: Hard work ethic, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, self-motivated, ability to work well on teams.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, aptitude for math/statistics.Basic understanding of, or experience with, drug development and the FDA-approval process for therapeutic products.Passion for investing.Basic Qualifications: MD, PhD., or other advanced life sciences degree.1-3 years of professional industry experience.Must have or obtain SIE, 63, 86, and 87 licenses within 6 months of hire.Work Location: Currently, this role is expected to be in the Boston office at least 4 days per week.Salary: Annual base salary between $140,000 and $190,000.The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position.
Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience.
