Are you passionate about helping others with their health and wellness initiatives? Work with South Dakotans of all ages, teaching them about health and physical activity in this statewide leadership role as an Extension Field Specialist I focusing on health and physical activity. This position can be located at one of the regional centers in Aberdeen, Pierre, Mitchell, Watertown, and Sioux Falls. This position is a 12 month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
As the outreach arm of our state's land grant, South Dakota State University, SDSU Extension is able to provide farmers, ranchers, agri-business people, communities, families and youth with the research-based information they need to succeed. SDSU Extension meets the changing needs of South Dakotans with progressive outreach services, ranging from one-on-one interaction and forums to 24/7 online access through our website, extension.sdstate.edu. SDSU Extension organizes program outreach across 4 program areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Food & Families, Community Vitality and 4-H Youth Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will provide strong statewide leadership, within their capstone area of specialization, in delivering research-based information, resources, programming, and support via learning communities while building relationships with stakeholder groups to support the vision of SDSU Extension.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Health Education/Promotion, Nutrition, Exercise Science, or other closely related field completed by date of application;Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with multiple constituents, both verbally and in writing, through presentations, reports, evaluations, and various forms of documents;Demonstrated teaching skills and ability to present messages so constituents can understand;Ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs;Demonstrated willingness and ability to effectively manage time and resources and adapts well to changing priorities, situations, and day-to-day demands;Knowledge of accounting procedures in order to comply with state and federal funding constraints;Ability to generate grants & other outside funds;Experience with computer and information technologies and willingness to develop computer skills to enhance Extension data management and communication to the public;A valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with Extension;Experience in publishing materials and peer-reviewed journals;Experience developing and delivering curriculum;Experience in developing funding proposals or securing grant funding.APPLICATION PROCESS: This system will guide you through the electronic application form.
