This hands on role will perform bending, welding, finishing, straightening, drilling, tapping, laser cutting and assembly activities required to deliver the promised components to our machine production department. This individual will also be involved in producing R&D components to support our machine development programs. Time Utilization: Normal business hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm. Schedule needs to be flexible and open to work overtime as needed to accommodate production schedules. This position may require up to 5%. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties to support manufacturing and production may be assigned: Pull production orders, secure drawings, review BOM and confirm operations Determine necessary fixtures, tools and raw materials to produce componentsPerform the required fabrication/assembly and laser cutting work using published specificationsPerform all testing, QC inspection, packing and transfer activities as requiredComplete required documentation at completion of activitiesSupport the Manufacturing division Build fixtures and templates to support repetitive productionWork with Engineering R&D on new development projectsPerform maintenance on fabrication and machining equipmentMaintain organized filing structure to adhere to departmental guidelines. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or ability to obtain. Two years of previous work experience in cutting, welding, deburring, metal finishing, welding fixtures and overall metal knowledge is required. Operating press brake equipment is a plus. Engineering or design experience is a plus. Specific understanding of metallurgy is a plus. Language Ability:Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to communicate with the team and to openly discuss topics of interest. Must be able to interpret and discuss general documents such as dimensional machine layouts, component drawings, written procedures and product information. Must be able to follow verbal instructions. Must be able to recommend design changes. Math Ability: Requires the ability to perform basic and advanced measurement activities in metric dimensions. Must have knowledge of gauge thicknesses, percentages, area and volume. Knowledge of resources available to complete these tasks. Reasoning Ability:Ability to analyze issues, interpret needs and to develop creative solutions is necessary. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to convert blueprints into real finished parts. The ability to make subjective decisions to positively impact production of required components. Computer Skills:Should be knowledgeable of computer systems. CNC control experience is a plus. SolidWorks, Siemens and SAP experience is a plus. Computer expertise with Microsoft Office is a plus. Certificates and Licenses:Current valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position. Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has some supervisory requirements to include approved training, process development and safe shop practices. This position will require the associate to be completely covered without exposed skin. The associate will be exposed to heat throughout the welding process. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to work near metal cutting, welding and bending machinery. The associate is occasionally exposed to dust, sparks, cooling fluid vapors, sharp edges, rough surfaces, welding flashes and metal particulate matter. The noise level in the work environment is loud on the production floor. The associate is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl. The associate is normally required to stand. The associate will be required to perform continuous welding motions to match print specifications where stitch and continuous welds are required.
