Requisition Number: AS792P Job Title: Faculty Member, Nursing - Psychiatric and Mental Health Pay Rate: $63,471 - $69,818 annually Position Type: Faculty Full-Time Position Summary: Position Summary: The faculty in the Nursing Department work as members of an instructional team of full-and part-time colleagues to consistently deliver high-quality instruction to students. Faculty are expected to teach 15 credits per semester, demonstrate innovation and excellence in curriculum and co-curricular planning, and foster an atmosphere of active intellectual and creative engagement. The Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing faculty member demonstrates the use of varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following are the functions essential to performing this job: 1. Provide classroom and clinical instruction in Nursing. 2. Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly tools and technology available. 3. Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. 4. Engage students to develop critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and critical communication skills. 5. Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives and creative problem-solving. 6. Provide service to the College and community to support and enhance the College mission. 7. Serve on committees and participate in department meetings. 8. Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy by actively participating in professional organizations at the state, regional, and national levels and by engaging in other professional development opportunities. 9. Appreciate and articulate the value of a strong nursing education program and use that framework to mentor students. 10. Uphold and contribute to the achievement of the Frederick Community College Strategic Plan. 11. Carry out faculty duties and responsibilities as detailed in the Employee Handbook and Faculty Addendum. 12. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications: 1. Master's Degree in Nursing 2. Current Maryland RN or multistate licensure privilege to practice registered nursing 3. Two years clinical experience in an inpatient psychiatric unit 4. Two years teaching experience in a classroom and/ or clinical setting Desired Qualifications: 1. Evidence of membership in professional academic associations 2. Two years of college teaching experience 3. Have the clinical experience necessary to function effectively and safely in the clinical nurse faculty's area of responsibility 4. Evidence of continuous professional development in the clinical setting 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills Work Schedule: This position has a varied assigned schedule based on course offerings and program needs which includes some evenings and weekends.
