Faculty Transfusion Medicine and Patient Blood Management Physician University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF09449 The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA, Division of Laboratory Medicine, is searching for an outstanding faculty with training and experience in transfusion medicine, and with the skills and interest to lead and grow a robust patient blood management program. The successful candidate must have an MD/DO (or equivalent) with primary board certification from either the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) or another American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board, and be board certified or board eligible in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in transfusion medicine and patient blood management/lab stewardship. Demonstrated interest in coagulation/thromboelastometry is also desired. The applicant should have outstanding interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude. Eligibility for or current licensure in the state of California is required. A record of academic achievement through independent research and scholarly publications is a plus. This individual will have a collaborative administrative and academic relationship with other faculty within the Transfusion Medicine Section of the Division of Laboratory Medicine, and will provide clinical consultations across UCLA Health, including high complexity in-patient care at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Santa Monica UCLA Orthopaedic Hospital, and blood donor services provided by the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center. Responsibilities will include provision of consultative services to physicians in transfusion medicine/patient blood management, education of physicians regarding test utilization and interpretation, and active engagement in quality assurance activities including those related to accreditation. Duties will also include active participation in the educational mission of the department including the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical school students. Creative contributions in clinical, educational or research projects is expected; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine.
