Provides quality, comprehensive out-patient primary health care services to the Center's patients. Reports directly to the Director of Family Medicine FNP regarding clinical issues and activities related to the delivery of medical care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician's panel, on an in-patient and out-patient basis; prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate.Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient, ensuring thorough documentation of each visit in the electronic health record.Assures continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services on a timely basis.Refers clients for appropriate specialty care services, lab, and x-ray.Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under care and makes medical management decisions.Maintains appropriate productivity standards and efficient patient flow.Provides excellent customer service to assist patients with their health care needs.Trains, mentors, and supervises students and clinical support staff.Takes call after hours and on weekends on a rotation basis.Follows established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives.Participates in health promotion and education programs as needed.Reviews patient satisfaction surveys and addresses any unfavorable quality practices.Performs other related duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. Medical School.Current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Texas.Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.Registered and current DEA, and other certificates to legally operate as a practitioner in Texas.Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty.Bilingual in English and Spanish desired.Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Instructor-Led by American Heart Association.Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions accurately.Hearing: Able to hear average conversations and receive ordinary information.Repetitive Motions: Frequently using the wrists, hands, and fingers.Visual: Visual acuity necessary for evaluating patients and inspecting documents.Physical: Sitting 20-30% of the time and standing, walking 70-80% of the time; can lift up to 25 lbs.
