Mental Health Consultation services are primarily offered to pre-schools, daycare centers (family or center-based), or other facilities licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) in 47 cities and towns throughout Northeast Massachusetts to provide assessment, intervention and support strategies to address behavioral challenges and prevent expulsion.
Responsibilities:
Provide community-based support and education to parents/caregivers of children with special needs and/or behavioral health needs.
Work with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation(ECMHC) staff, EEC program leadership and educators and families i n developing measurable F amily P artner goals in the Individualized Service Delivery Plan.
Engage the parent/caregivers in activities that are designed to address one or more goals/tasks on the Individualized Service Delivery Plan .
Assist parent/caregiver in meeting the needs of the child through educating, supporting, coaching, modeling and guiding.
Teach parent/caregiver how to connect to community resources and communicate with providers.
Support parent/caregiver in advocating for services and resources to meet a child 's needs.
Guide, support and foster empowerment including, linkages to individual, peer/parent support and self-help groups.
Participate in feedback meetings and transition planning .
Provide telephone support and outreach to parent/caregiver.
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in a human services field with one (1) or more years of experience working with children and youth; or High School diploma/GED with two (2) years of experience.
Must be a parent, guardian or caregiver of a youth with special needs, and/or behavioral health needs.
Experience in navigating child and family service systems and teaching families who are involved in those systems.
Must have the ability to communicate with other parents in a supportive and non-judgmental manner regarding their needs.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both professional and non-professionals and have the capacity to work effectively with the service provider community.
Ability to be an effective spokesperson representing both the ECMHC program and the needs of the families in the community.
Ability to actively facilitate the development of local and community resources.
Bilingual and bicultural skills are a plus.
Additional language capacity and/or cultural diversity are highly desirable.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, full time
Pay: $21.63 hourly
