Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and secure computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures. Optimize network performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures. Evaluate and select vendors for network equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to network security and data privacy.
Network Architect Responsibilities and Qualificationon
Responsibilities:
1. Designing Network Infrastructure: Develop and design scalable, secure, and reliable network architectures that meet the organization's current and future needs.
2. Network Planning and Strategy: Create strategic plans for network infrastructure development, including capacity planning, and network optimization. Plan for continual future network infrastructure upgrade cycles.
3. Implementation and Deployment: Oversee the implementation and deployment of network infrastructure, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
4. Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the network from cyber threats, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
5. Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize network performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
6. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, cybersecurity experts, and soware developers, to ensure seamless integraon of network infrastructure with other IT systems.
8. Vendor Management: Evaluate and select vendors for network equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to network security and data privacy.
10. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support for network-related issues, troubleshooting problems, and implementing solutions in a timely manner.
Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Area Security Access:
Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate, assumed to be uncleared, will be given the opportunity to apply for a DOE clearance.
Education Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology required. Certifications #64257;cations CCIE and/or CCDE equivalent are required.
Experience/Skills 15 years of experience in network engineering and administration, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Experience with secure integration of industrial control system (ICS) networks with enterprise business networks and network architecture design are required. Proficiency in networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Encryptions, VLANs, VPNs, routing and switching. Experience with network monitoring and management tools is also essential Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewall configuration, access control, encryption, and vulnerability management. Ability to analyze complex network requirements and propose innovative solutions to meet business needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly and efficiently. Experience managing network infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including resource planning, scheduling, and budget management. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
