In the role of Field/Lab Scientist, we'll count on you to:
Conduct field work for environmental/biological projects such as water quality data collection, biological sampling, and hydrography.
Operate 20-28' boats, including trailering, deployment, and retrieval.
Perform site inspections for environmental compliance, storm water inspections.
Perform data interpretation and analysis, survey planning and write environmental reports.
Lead efforts both in the field and lab, including giving direction to technicians and interfacing with clients.
Perform light mechanical work when necessary.
Perform all work with an eye to detail.
O ther duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Environmental Science or related field
Minimum of 5 years' experience conducting field surveys, preferably as a crew chief or field lead.
Experience operating medium size (20-28 feet) boats including trailering.
Experience collecting field data including the completion of datasheets, logs and chain-of-custody forms.
Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs and hike 1 mile over uneven terrain.
Hydrographer/hydrography experience is a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills
Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
40-hour OSHA Certification, 10-hour OSHA Construction certification & First Aid/CPR preferred
Boat US safety course/Coast Guard / Auxiliary safety class or equivalent safe boating certification preferred
This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with HDR vehicle policy
This position may be subject to pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of your employment based upon HDR's Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy
Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
General background-related experience
