Job Description
To collect field data and samples from surface waters, sediments, publicly operated treatment works(POTWs), and groundwater, to meet contracted requirements of water quality research projects. Collection of data through use of microcomputer equipment. Reduction and review of data for accuracy using computer programs and software. Construction, calibration, and maintenance of sampling stations and technical equipment. Perform discharge measurements and corrections.
Required Qualifications
Basic knowledge of water resources and hydrology, field testing principles, procedures, and instrumentation. Ability to operate and troubleshoot field analytical equipment and to perform sample analyses for water quality testing. Ability to keep logical, complete, and accurate records. Ability to collect and compile data for analytical reports. Ability to learn and apply basic computer applications. Ability to provide direction to others. Ability to use simple carpentry tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred degree in environmental studies, engineering, chemistry, biology, geology, or one of the other natural sciences that would provide knowledge of water resources, or experience in surface water hydrology and basic knowledge of computer software programs, such as Basic, Excel, and Word.
