Department OverviewOperations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, PG&E Academy, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers.
Position SummaryThe Field Training Coordinator monitors and supports the overall field training program for an assigned geographic area. This employee will monitor and track all phases of field training programs and will identify and correct conditions or situations that interfere with the efficient training and timely progression of all apprentices. This Senior Field Training Coordinator role will have a lineman focus.
This position has a flexible location open to the following headquarters: Paso Robles, Merced and Lincoln.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
*The hourly rate for this position ranges from $50.00 to $79.80.
Job ResponsibilitiesManages pre-apprentice and apprentice training progress of 30-50 apprentices. Coordinates sequence of training events.Utilizing a variety of approaches, meets with Superintendents, Supervisors, Foremen and PAL's / AL's to reinforce the purpose, goals and OJT/OJE requirements of the program, identifying ways to continually develop employees in the field every day.Develops and implements corrective action plans, conducts formal evaluations and reports out on progress at Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) Meetings as required.Provides training resources, guidance, and advice to support apprentice programs. Maintains files and records (hard copy and electronic) in accordance with company standards, JATC requirements and state of CA requirements.Acts as field trainer to aid pre-apprentice / apprentice / employee development. Interfaces with senior manager or director level for required report-outs (compliance and related issues).Assist Experts in providing first-hand expert opinions during JATC fact-finding presentations.Provide input as to requirements/changes used to update the Master Apprentice Agreement (MAA).Provide support and hold self and other employees accountable for implementation of the safety pledge, USP 22, the code of safe practices and the safety accountability model.Ensure that training is completed and properly documented. The successful candidate will model the Core Values and the Leadership Competencies in every action and decision.Create a work environment where innovative solutions to complex work issues are consistently developed.Ability to function as a subject matter expert participating in training development processes and providing feedback, thereby influencing improvements to training, and methods and procedures.An absolute commitment to safety. Grow the desired culture aligned with PG&E vision and values.QualificationsMinimum: High School Diploma or GED.Four (4) years of experience in a technical trade, journey level or equivalent experience.Desired: At least two years of experience with MS Office.Knowledge and application of the IBEW Labor Agreements and associated Letter Agreements.College degree in engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience preferred.Prior technical instruction experience.Prior experience working in a training organization.Ability to instruct apprentices/students to impart technical knowledge in classroom environment as well as physical skills in field environment.Ability to observe, coach and mentor students in field/yard and in classroom channels, materials, and methods.Ability to communicate unwelcome and difficult messages to others while preserving the working relationship.Ability to influence others to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment to maintain training compliance.Excellent verbal and written communication.Knowledge of Pre-Apprentice and Apprenticeship programs and training requirements.Ability to work independently most days without direct supervision.Ability to manage record-keeping.Ability to follow through with minimal direction.Working knowledge of adult learning methods.CompTIA-Computing Technology Industry Association CTT-Certified Technical Trainer Certification.
