Finance Director Exempt
Job Summary:
The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the dealership, including managing the finance and insurance (F&I) department, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and driving profitability through effective financial management. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and collaboration with other dealership departments to optimize financial performance and enhance the customer experience.
Essential Functions: Oversee the financial operations of the dealership, including financing and leasing programs, accounting, and budgeting. Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve profitability targets and improve financial performance. Monitor and analyze financial performance, including sales, expenses, and profitability, and provide recommendations for improvement. Manage the Finance and Insurance (F&I) department, including the development and execution of finance programs, loan and lease arrangements, and insurance products. Ensure that all F&I activities comply with dealership policies, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Train and support F&I staff to enhance their performance and customer service skills. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including federal and state laws governing financing and insurance. Conduct regular audits of financial practices and documentation to ensure adherence to legal and dealership standards. Develop and enforce policies and procedures to mitigate financial risk and maintain integrity. Enhance customer experience by providing transparent, effective, and professional financial services. Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect the new and used vehicle finance departments. Address and resolve complex customer issues and complaints related to financing and insurance. Implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and retention through effective financial solutions. Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to dealership management. Analyze financial data, market trends, and performance metrics to inform decision-making and strategic planning. Monitor industry trends and competitor practices to identify opportunities and threats. Collaborate with other dealership departments (e.g., sales, service) to ensure alignment of financial strategies with overall dealership goals. Provide leadership and support to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Represent the dealership in dealings with banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies. Streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department. Implement best practices and new technologies to improve financial operations and customer service. Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation to ensure cost-effectiveness and productivity. Maintain satisfactory attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Hire and train finance staff. Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of finance employees. Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Four years of Automotive Finance Manager experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's license and safe driving record; required to obtain a California license within 30 days. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Economics, or Finance. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in financial software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, lending practices, and insurance products. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service and relationship management. Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks, sits; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks and hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; lifts up to 15 pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working on a computer. Noise level is moderate.
