North America Sort Centers (NASC) is the backbone of Amazon's middle mile transportation network, enabling one-day delivery speed for Prime members and seven-day-a-week delivery for customers.
At Sort Center Finance, we are focused on partnering with operations to drive cost efficient improvements to delivery quality and speed in the transportation network.
This is a high-visibility role on NASC Finance's FP&A team focused on variable cost/wage.
You will become the subject matter expert in the planning and reporting of network wage metrics.
You will partner closely with operations and planning teams to align on wage rate and employee mix targets during financial planning cycles and identify continuous improvement opportunities to define, design and maintain performance measurements, reporting, and reviews.
A successful candidate will be able to effectively influence business partners, provide data-driven and thoughtful decision-making, and manage competing priorities in a quickly changing environment.
Candidates should be adept working in SQL, possess advanced Excel modeling skills, and be comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
Candidates should also demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills as direct interaction with leadership is common.
Key job responsibilities
Create and automate weekly and monthly reports that provide clear, meaningful and actionable insights on business performance
Deliver weekly/monthly/quarterly financial close, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and consolidations utilizing financial systems and advanced modeling
Provide finance support to business partners on key initiatives that improve the quality of deliveries, speed of delivery and/or reduce costs
Root cause analysis and uncover core issues using data to provide guidance for business partners and utilize data analytics to improve data quality to make better decisions
A day in the life
A typical day in this role provides the opportunity to do financial analyses for executive-level business leaders to support a network of sites, identify high priority projects to improve results and drive cost reductions with stakeholders, create new measures for business effectiveness, and recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
About the team
North America Sort Centers FP&A is a tight-knit team consisting of two fixed cost Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and two variable cost SMEs responsible for billions of dollars in annual opex.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
5+ years of finance experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, or CPA
Experience with Oracle, Essbase, TM1 and similar tools
Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market.
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
