The Financing Solutions Tax team provides tax advisory, compliance, and support services across the FS global product suite to assist in meeting key business development, client management, and risk excellence objectives. It is comprised of a team of experienced tax professionals organized around two main functions: Tax Operations and Tax Advisory.
The Finance Tax Vice President (VP) is a highly visible role within the global FS organization and is primarily responsible for protecting, maintaining, and enhancing FS's overall tax compliance posture in a constantly evolving business and regulatory environment. The successful individual will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, possess a positive can-do attitude, operate with the highest levels of integrity and competence, excel at driving and influencing change, foster collaborative relationships across business and partner teams, and bring passion, enthusiasm, and energy to the role.
This role will report to the Global Head of Tax for Financing Solutions and will reside in Boston, MA.
Due to the role requirements, this job needs to be performed primarily in the office with some flex work opportunities available.
What you will be responsible for
As Finance Tax VP, you will
Manage the overall functioning of the Tax Operations vertical within the FS tax teamEnsure all tax compliance requirements are satisfied, including the timely and accurate calculation and deposit of withholding tax, collection and validation of tax documentation, and furnishing of annual tax reporting, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirementsPrepare, sign, and file Financing Solutions-related tax and stamp duty returnsMaintain suite of internal controls, inclusive of procedures, policies, job aids, etc., to ensure a best-in-class tax operating environment that meets and exceeds risk excellence objectivesReview and approve/reject new client startups in accordance with product development and tax approvals. Research and answer client-related and counterparty-related tax inquiriesConsult with other members of the FS Tax team to resolve tax queriesDrive engagement with custody tax groups and other internal support teams to respond to queries from FS Operations, Trading and Relationship Management and to proactively manage operational tax risk across the FS product suiteRespond to requests and correspondence from the IRS and other tax authorities in coordination with the FS Tax Advisory team.Drive continuous process improvement and innovation throughout the tax compliance function to improve scalability, efficiency, and automation, and reduce overall tax compliance riskComplete all tax-related audit requestsParticipate as SME lead on ad-hoc regulatory, client, and business projects from a tax operations perspectiveCollaborate and engage team members in a collegial, respectful, and professional mannerTrain and mentor junior staffWhat we value
These skills will help you succeed in this role
Minimum 7 to 10 years tax experience, preferably with an international focus and/or in a custody bank environmentExperience with multi-national financial institution and/or capital markets strongly preferredExcellent risk management focusExperience with the MS Office suite (Excel, Access) requiredStrong time management, organizational, and communication skillsEducation & Preferred Qualifications MST/CPA desired but not requiredFamiliarity with tax preparation software (Convey) a plusTax technology experience a plus Are you the right candidate? Salary Range:
$110,000 - $185,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
