Financial Accountant

Financial Accountant Location Michigan : Summary: May perform in one or more of the following Accounting functions such as Monthly Financial Reporting, Budget, and Regulatory Filings. Under moderate supervision and following standard procedures with some independent judgment, support month-end and annual accounting cycles, apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Compile, analyze, and maintain supporting documentation of: a. Financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts. b. Financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, in preparation or reconciliation of balance sheet and adjusting entries, profit and loss statement, and other reports that summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position. c. Month-end files for reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and adjusting entries. 2. Reconcile and maintain supporting documentation for accounts of varying degrees of complexity such as bank accounts, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, prepaid assets, and other balance sheet accounts. 3. Assist in developing month-end and annual accounting cycles. 4. Determine proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits. 5. Monitor compliance with statutory accounting principles and company procedures. 6. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. 7. May collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns. 8. Perform other duties as assigned.
