JOB SUMMARY The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position as a Financial Assistant 1. The Department of Psychological Sciences' staff provides quality professional services to a diverse and thriving community of students and faculty engaged in innovative research and academic excellence. Under the direction of the Administrative Manager in Psychological Sciences, the Financial Assistant will process a high-volume financial need for faculty, researchers, and graduate student employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares documents for procurement of supplies and payment of travel, expense reimbursements, and other related services. Initiates and reconciles Procard purchases. Processes paperwork for department financial transactions. Prepares correspondence related to department financial matters. Verifies and prepares financial data into spreadsheets or databases, details of invoices, requisitions, and other disbursements. Monitors and tracks expenditures for appropriateness and compliance. Provides expense summaries and budget projections as needed. Maintains office supply stock, dispenses supplies, and provides information for replenishment supplies and orders supplies, key disbursement, and associated record keeping. Manages departmental photocopy/scanning center, mail services, room reservations, equipment loan, and departmental equipment sign-out functions and associated recordkeeping. Serves as a resource to faculty, students, and staff on issues related to student employment; collaborates with college business and grant management teams. Assists in the maintenance of departmental equipment and space surveys. Other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. Up to one year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related area. Demonstrated customer service skills. Excellent computer skills including experience in MS Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to engage, connect, and work with diverse student, administrative, and faculty populations and provide a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting. Ability to follow established procedures and compile new ones. Experience working in a higher education setting. Problem-solver with a team-orientated approach. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
