Job Summary The Financial Partner is responsible for providing financial oversight for the Network Operations - Mechanical Business Unit (BU). This position provides financial insights to build an improved business model, proactively driving value through informed and insightful decision-making, fostering a culture of cost consciousness, control, simplification, and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities Finance Budget, forecast and analyze capital and operating expensesPrepare year-end outlook (YEO) based on actual results and spending trends, and drive cost improvements with support from senior financial partnersPrepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on expenditures and key performance metrics, including various analysis as requiredMonitor, analyze and explain monthly operating results against budget and forecastPreparation and distribution of financial reports to BU, taxation and Accounting PropertyPreparation of financial outlooks and financial forecastsManage changes/transfers within the Operating and Capital budgetsEnsure effective controls are in place for SOX and GAAP compliancyPerform balance sheet account reconciliationsParticipate in contract renewalsManage accrued liabilities in compliance with corporate accounting rulesPrepare business cases, benefits identification and quantification and ROI analysisProactively review and implement new processes triggered by new accounting pronouncements and new systemsWorking Conditions The role has standard working conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and will currently be eligible to participate in our flexible work from home policy. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.
Requirements Experience FinanceFinancial Planning experienceExperience in budgeting, forecasting, preparing business casesAccounting experience in journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reportsExperience working in a CN business unit**Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or BusinessMaster's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or working towards*Charted Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards**Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
