Job Duties Responsible for ensuring all types of financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in strict conformance with Agency Policies, Commonwealth's Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Virginia Prompt Payment Act (VPPA) for the Office of the Attorney General-Department of Law and Division of Debt Collection. Ensures office utilizes and is following Small Purchase Charge Card (SPCC) and Individual Travel Card programs. Documents and updates desktop procedures. Prompt Pay monitoring monthly and quarterly reporting. Responsible for reconciling financial data and assisting with related end of year financial statement attachments and schedules. Responsible for Fixed Asset and Lease Programs to include SBITA. Manage other Accounts Payable personnel and work product. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates should have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role. This should include progressively responsible roles, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices is essential. Candidates should be proficient in accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment processing, and account reconciliation. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Cardinal, Oracle, PeopleSoft) and Microsoft Excel is required. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop a team, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues, and providing guidance to team members. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvements, analyze financial data, and make informed decisions to optimize accounts payable operations. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in accounts payable processes. Keen attention to detail is critical to ensure accuracy in review of invoice processing and payment reconciliation and preparation of financial reporting. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and compliance with company policies, accounting regulations, and legal requirements related to accounts payable operations. Additional Considerations Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA, CFE, or equivalent certification preferred. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly as they relate to accounts payable. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders. Proven leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
