Chevron North America Products is accepting online applications for the position of Fire Protection Fire Specialist, located in Pascagoula, Mississippi through October 31st, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
The Fire Protection Fire Specialist will demonstrate the Pascagoula Refinery's commitment to a safe, incident and injury-free workplace through support of the Safeguard Learning Tool. This position is responsible for the development and training of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Maintenance Emergency Team (MERT) members and refinery employees. Support Refinery Emergency Services group with Incident Management in all areas of Emergency Response (Medical, Rescue, Hazmat, Fire, Security). Act as an agent of the HES Department dealing with Hot Work and Entry Permits. Maintain, operate, and provide training on all emergency equipment. Support Public Affairs with community events. This position reports to the Assistant Fire Chief. The Fire Protection Fire Specialist will be issued a company cell phone and is on an emergency call-out. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Works with all Chevron Fire Protection personnel, volunteer Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, and contract Security forces during all Fire, Medical, Hazmat, and Rescue emergencies.
Works within the Incident Management System during all incidents and functions. •
Works a 9-80 schedule or rotating 12-hour shift schedule depending on crew assignments and vacation coverage.
Provides leadership and training for ERT and MERT members. • Obtains certifications from offsite schools.
Responds outside of the Refinery to investigate community complaints. • Facilitates training as needed.
Handles confidential and sensitive information in situations that involve security and medical matters.
Provide expertise as a liaison to Operations and Maintenance for shutdowns. • Operates and troubleshoots emergency equipment (fire trucks, medical, rescue, hazmat, and other related emergency equipment) to ensure Reliability.
Assists in all daily activities and routine work in fire protection. • Performs maintenance, testing, inspection, and repair of refinery-specialized mobile firefighting equipment.
Works with the Safety Department to create and modify Refinery Instructions. • Provide inspections in refinery areas for fire and safety hazards and recommend appropriate solutions.
Interacts, diplomatically, with the public, local law enforcement, federal agencies, and fire departments.
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years total experience at a Chevron Refinery.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in an emergency response organization.
• Must be a current ERT member.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership skills, along with the ability to lead teams and motivate employees.
• ICS 100 certification.
• ICS 200 certification.
• Experience with Pascagoula Refinery ERT.
• Have a good working knowledge of all emergency response disciplines (Fire, Rescue, Hazmat, and Medical).
• Experience in permitting work (hot work and confined space entry), familiar with Refinery Instructions as it pertains to permitting.
• Current Emergency Medical Technician certification or be able to complete the requirements for EMT in a timely manner.
• Basic computer skills and be familiar with using Microsoft Office programs.
