Firewall Architect Dallas, TX - Hybrid End customer: Panasonic The Firewall Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust firewall architecture ensuring that cybersecurity measures are considered and implemented in all Client's IT projects.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in cybersecurity and firewall management, along with excellent communication and leadership skills Responsibilities and Duties Firewall Architecture: The Firewall Architect will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive architectures, strategies, and roadmaps for Client's firewall estate.
Firewall Design: The Firewall Architect will act as the primary Firewall Architect for Client and will be responsible for defining architectures and rulesets on client's Palo Alto Firewall estate.
This includes creation of High-Level Design, Low Level Design, Change Requests, etc.
The role will include both implementation and oversight on implementation by other firewall engineers.
Project Collaboration: The Firewall Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, network engineers, system administrators, and developers, to ensure firewall requirements are met throughout project lifecycles.
Incident Response Planning: The Firewall Architect will be responsible for firewall input into Client's technical incident response plans that outline the procedures and protocols to be followed in the event of a cybersecurity incident.
This includes identifying potential threats, assessing risks, and outlining the actions to be taken during an incident.
Manage cybersecurity incidents : The Firewall Architect will serve on the panel for managing and responding to major cybersecurity incidents, working with the incident response team to contain the incident, mitigate the damage, and restore operations.
As a result, there will be a requirement to serve as an escalation on-call and may involve some out-of-hours work (in the event of a major incident).
Continuously improve firewall capabilities : The Firewall Architect will continuously monitor and improve firewall capabilities by staying up to date with emerging threats, technologies, and best practices.
This includes conducting research, attending conferences, and collaborating with other professionals in this area.
Support the Security Service function : As a firewall subject matter expert, the Firewall Architect will assist and support the wider Security Services function within the Client.
This includes mentoring junior staff and deputizing for similar roles during leave periods, etc.
Operational Oversight : The Firewall Architect will provide oversight on operational activities conducted by firewall engineers, including both internal and third-party (Managed Service Provider) engineers.
This includes acting as a key step in the CAB approval process, proactively assessing changes in the operating environment, and ensuring best practices are being met.
Security Remediation Activities : The Firewall Architect will be responsible for conducting a bi-annual rule assessment on the firewall estate and for developing technical responses to penetration tests, security assessments, and vulnerability scan findings associated with the firewalls.

Experience and Competencies Experience in leading Firewall architecture.
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
Experience with firewall architectures in a hybrid cloud (Azure) environment.
Strong understanding & experience of security processes and services.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate accurately and clearly to business and IT users.
Good reporting and documentation skills.
Good presentation skills & ability to host meetings to an audience.
Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications and Certifications Relevant Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related area.
Relevant Palo Alto firewall certifications.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications.
Experience working with third party vendors.
5 years of experience in firewall architecture.
Strong technical background in cybersecurity.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
