Position Overview Primary Function: The role of the Group Fitness Instructor is to provide group fitness classes for members that promote a commitment to healthy lifestyles and uphold the mission of FitWell by creating a welcoming, inclusive environment. A successful group fitness instructor will stay current on industry information, attend meetings/trainings, and retain participant interest with creativity, community building, and motivating classes. This position works with considerable independence and self-direction. Only the general direction and scope of the work to be accomplished are discussed with the supervisor. Position Appointment Details: Career Band: NE3 Hourly position Part-Time Position Description Typical Duties & Responsibilities: Provide a safe and fun environment for participants Demonstrate and promote knowledge of proper group fitness components, i.e.: warm-up, cardiovascular exercise, strength, mobility, cool down, etc. Provide customer service to members of FitWell Maintain group fitness equipment, rooms, and storage areas Knowledge of FitWell policies and procedures Maintain current required certifications Enforce facility and program policies Attend all required trainings and meetings (dates and times TBA) Other duties as assigned by FitWell Manager of Operations or Director of FitWell Judgment Required: Prescribed, established procedures are primarily used to perform the essential functions of this position. Budgetary Responsibility: None Machines & Equipment Used: Able to operate, evaluate, and perform basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning fitness equipment. Personal Interaction/Communications: Student Contact: Frequent; assisting visitors, and answering questions. Internal: Frequent; assisting visitors, and answering questions. External Frequent; assisting visitors, and answering questions. Attributes of a Successful Candidate Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: 1+ years related experience. Job-Related Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Proficient in basic communication applications and platforms, including Fusion Innosoft and GSuite Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Knowledge of basic gym operations and fitness services is desirable Licenses/Certification: National fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or equivalent) Ability to conduct safe and effective classes Have current certification(s) for specific class format, including adult First Aid/CPR/AED Supplemental Information Working Environment: Work is performed in the FitWell classrooms, with the ability to facilitate classes on the patio, weather-dependent and at the instructor's discretion.
