Job Summary
The RN in the Special Care Unit will be knowledgeable in the care of the following age groups: Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric. To include, but not limited to: Respiratory conditions, Congestive Heart Failure and other cardiac conditions, Chest Pain, CVA, Diabetes Mellitus, Infectious Disease, Psychiatric Crisis, General Pain, Cancers, Traumas, Acutely Ill Medical Patients and Surgical Patients needing ICU monitoring.
All nursing care functions/responsibilities are based on the ANA standards.
Responsible for the compliance of Physician/Provider orders.
Adheres to the Nursing Code of Ethics, Avera's Mission and Avera's Service Excellence Standards.
Education and/or Experience
Graduate of Registered Nursing Education program.
3 years of experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Participates in educational opportunities and updates/maintains current professional clinical competency related to areas of responsibilities.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for all patient care staff.
ACLS is required by 1 year of employment in ICU.
PALS is recommended but not required for employment in ICU.
Attends all mandatory hospital and departmental meetings and in-services.
TNCC required by one year of employment in ICU.
Certification in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) within one year of employment. Certification requirements to be maintained while working in the department.
Work Schedule
Hours:
Position requires 72 hours worked in a six-week schedule equating to 624 hours annually, not exceeding 1248 hours in a 12 month period.
Six weekends required annually.
Pay
Flat Rate pay of $50.00
