Varda is headquartered in El Segundo, California, where we have offices and a production facility where our vehicles, equipment, and materials are built, integrated, and tested. Varda also has an office in Washington, D.C.

The Flight Software team is responsible for determining how our spacecraft behaves and operates in orbit, and building reliable software to ensure it happens. The team is responsible for all phases of development, starting from requirements capture through test, and flight operational support.
ResponsibilitiesLead a focused team of software engineers to architect and develop the software and applications enabling Varda's next generation of spacecraftHands-on development of reliable flight software to determine how the manufacturing systems, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operate through the entire missionOwn all aspects of your software's lifecycle, including design, testing, and integrationAid in the constant refinement in the definition for how Varda approaches software development and verificationRequirementsTeamwork, communication, and problem solving in a collaborative environmentScope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades given open-ended problemsWrite quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++Architect and realize highly-reliable and available software systemsEnsure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V) techniquesBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent practical experience.At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years experience in support of aerospace or safety-critical applications.Demonstratably excellent verbal and technical communication skills.Experience with C++ and Python.Experience with mentoring team members.Experience in building solutions to open-ended engineering challenges with multidisciplinary requirements.Nice to HaveExperience developing and testing real-time embedded systems.Experience developing and communicating project technical roadmaps.Experience with safety-critical software, especially for aerospace applications.Previous experience in managing small engineering or project teams.Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and data structures.Functional understanding and experience with computer networking concepts.Pay RangeSalary range: $150,000 - $200,000Leveling and base salary is determined by job-related skills, education level, experience level, and job performanceYou will be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options and/or long-term cash awardsVarda Space Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
