Job Description:
As a FOIA specialist for a government agency in Washington, DC, the candidate will examine and provide responses to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Duties include:
Examining and evaluating requests for information under FOIA;Determining what information or portions of information may be exempt from release;Drafting replies to routine and complex requests for information;Compiling statistical data for release;Conducting inquiries and retrieving responsive information to prepare final responses to requests for information;Coordinating with internal and external offices and programs to collect information for release independently;Using an electronic tracking system to track, manage, and complete FOIA assignments and maintain case files;Recognizing priorities and independently organizing work to meet established deadlines;Establishing internal procedures to ensure adequate control of deadlines and progress reports;Maintaining and developing knowledge of the supported government program, its divisions, staff, and responsibilities. Education:
Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience
