Purpose Statement:
Performs tasks in the preparation and service of food to students and staff in the Brookline Public School District
Essential Functions: Prepares food with minimum supervision, using standard recipes Serves students and staff in a pleasant and efficient manner, and using proper serving sizes.
Cashiers at point-of-sale terminals; Assists in the receipt of orders and supplies; Operates dishwasher and washes trays, plates, utensils and other serving equipment; Keeps storeroom, refrigerator, and freezer in good order per HACCP guidelines; Keeps a simple production record of what we prepare and serve daily; Ensuring temperature of prepared food is correct per HACCP requirements when directed by manager; Sets up and breaks down serving lines, using proper sanitation procedures; Assists and monitors in the set-up, preparation, and breakdown of the salad bar, and monitors student flow and refill of salad bar items; Cleans kitchen equipment and work area, this includes washing dishes, pots, pans, cafeteria eating areas, and any other general cleaning as needed; Reports to work in complete uniform and are ready to work at scheduled time, accurately completes time sheet and remains on the job until dismissed; Reports any perceived or potential equipment defects in a timely and efficient manner to the manager and Food Service office; Performs other duties as assigned by manager to support the goals of the Food Service Department.
Knowledge of:
Basic methods of preparing and serving foods in large quantities;
Maintaining high quality food preparation;
Operation and use of various food service equipment used at district sites;
Proper use and maintenance of equipment;
Proper sanitation and safety standards applicable county, state, and federal school food service regulations;
Ability to: Routinely and correctly lift and carry weights up to but not to exceed 50 pounds; Stand continuously, and engage in moderate physical work; Good overall physical health; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work harmoniously with others and demonstrate cheerful professionalism; Work quickly and efficiently; Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Establish and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships.
Requirements/Qualification:
Food Handlers Permit preferred.
