The incumbent independently plans, coordinates, and implements projects necessary to sell timber or related products from trust lands to provide income to the various trusts. Each project must be analyzed under Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) rules.
Essential Functions: Trust Land Management: Independently plan, coordinate and evaluate activities on state endowment trust lands to maximize net revenue and ensure adherence to state and federal laws.Coordinate and perform inventory monitoring to identify and prioritize timber sales.Implement timber sales by serving as MEPA project leader and administering contracts.Analyze data to develop permits and resource protection plans.Design specifications for logging systems and maintain road systems.Supervise timber-volume cruise designs and sale layout activities.Prepare technical reports concerning project impacts and sale-package documents.Respond to inquiries regarding development and implementation of rules.Coordinate public hearings and recommend strategies based on public input.Determine and oversee forest improvement treatments on assigned parcels.Perform activities in wildland-fire management.APPLICATION MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: Online State of Montana applicationResumeRequired knowledge, skills, and abilities: The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired through a bachelor's degree in Forest Management or a related resource management field and 3-4 years of progressively responsible job-related professional experience in forest management. The position requires extensive knowledge of forest management principles, techniques, and laws, as well as skills in the use of tools and equipment related to forest management activities.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
Salary: $66,019.20 Yearly
