THE CLARA ABBOTT FOUNDATION
The Clara Abbott Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Abbott families worldwide by providing need-based financial assistance in times of financial hardship.
In addition to monetary assistance, we help clients achieve financial independence with a wide array of resources and expert guidance – provided free of charge. The Foundation also provides need-based college scholarships to dependent children of Abbott employees and retirees.
The Consultant is expected to maintain and manage allocated caseload, ensuring timely receipt, review, processing, and closure of applications in compliance with policies. The Consultant will analyze a client's current financial situation as well as determine the historical factors that led the client to their current state. The Consultant will help develop a recommendation to bridge the client to financial independence, provide resources and suggestions to improve the client's financial state.
The Consultant will maintain a close rapport with both Foundation Managers and local Abbott HR, and help cultivate The Foundation's understanding of local culture, general social and/or political developments, available local resources, and help identify potential areas of program improvements.
CONSULTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Job Function
The Consultant's primary function is to determine financial hardship. This requires understanding of all aspects of a client's situation to understand the drivers of financial need and make a clear unbiased recommendation based on the analysis performed. All recommendations should reflect the mission of promoting personal financial responsibility and include monetary and non-monetary resolution of cases.
The assessment and processing of a client case include various phases of engagement which include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing client's application and documentation
Discussing the case with clients and provide guidance on Foundation's expectations of them
Gathering additional required information and documentation
Assessing financial needs of client through creation and analysis of client financial spreadsheet
Developing a report that includes a recommendation based on overall client need
Ongoing client communication until case closure
Education and Experience Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or Social Work
Required: 4-6 years in areas of employee relations, HR, finance, or operations
Required: External candidate, non-active Abbott employment
Competencies and requirements
Proficiency in oral and written communication in English with a second language an advantage
Basic understanding of available social welfare benefits for the region
Strong interpersonal skills
Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills through financial data evaluation
Flexibility to dedicate at least 50 hours a month to reliably deliver job expectations with an ability to increase in line with client demand
Computer with access to internet with VPN, web camera, email and phone access
Experience in working with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe PDFs
