Position SummaryOne temporary hourly-intermittent Work Study student assistant position available in Student Leadership and Development.Start DatePosition available on or after October 16, 2023 and ending on or before May 31, 2024. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.Job Description/DutiesDuties include but are not limited to:Assist the Orientation and Transitions Coordinator in maintaining transition programs initiatives and keeping up to date records.Track Warrior Weeks of Welcome and transition program involvement.Meet regularly with supervisor.Attend SLD staff meetings as appropriate.Work collaboratively with the Orientation and Transitions Coordinator and within the university community to plan and implement transition programs and create a welcoming and engaging environment to integrate students into campus life.Contribute to the planning and execution of various transition initiatives throughout the year.Counsel students on areas of personal and professional development.Work with the Core Leaders to provide oversight and training.Assist in the coordination of the Warrior Weeks of Welcome including marketing and administration of the program, collaborating with campus partners to facilitate programs, and creating and conducting workshops to promote skill building through teambuilding, communication, exercises, etc.Coordinate the Transition Peer Program.Problem-solve on the day of programs/events and respond to issues quickly and effectively.Provide on-going support for students transitioning to the university based on need (possibly in the form of workshops, written materials, and events).Create a monthly newsletter for parents/families.Assist with facilitation of parent/family programs and events.Present/co-present transition workshops throughout the year.Sit on various division and campus-wide programming committees, such as Warrior Weeks of Welcome planning committee, family weekend, etc.Actively participate on the Student Leadership and Development Team by assisting with office initiatives and programs.Utilize various assessment tools to evaluate training, campus-wide programs, student experiences, and other programmatic initiatives.Aid in collecting and maintaining statistics and data for planning and reporting purposes.Analyze, recommend, and implement innovative and creative ideas and solutions to provide students with an informative and memorable experience.Research other colleges and universities and keep up with transition trends.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
