PURPOSE:
The Frozen/Dairy/Grocery Clerk position allows you the opportunity to provide superior customer service by way of responding to customer inquiries, providing support throughout their shopping experience including promoting our customer loyalty plan, processing sales and returns using a cash register, and addressing customer complaints when they arise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Observe all rules and store policy.
Maintains the sanitation and safety of the baking area within the company, local, and federal health and civil code regulations.
Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations.
Must wear an approved hat or hair net.
To open cartons and price items accurately and legibly; keep store management informed of pricing problem areas and discrepancies.
Assist customers in retrieving items from inaccessible areas or in obtaining products that are either located in warehouse or items they may have difficulty handling.
To control excessive use of utilities and water and observe sound conservation practices Handle damaged or spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
Making it understood with all the employees that come in contact with customers, that THE CUSTOMER IS THE FIRST PRIORITY; that the store is in the forefront of that activity; and that every member of the team id here to fully support that priority with prompt and friendly service.
Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
To follow the grocery work schedule.
He/she must find and appropriate replacement as necessary if you plan to not work as scheduled.
Assist other department as assigned by your supervisor in the performance of their duties so that they will be familiar with and able to handle all jobs and positions within the grocery department.
Assure the highest possible levels of sanitation and safety within the entire grocery department.
Maintain all grocery areas in a clean and orderly manner, especially those areas of high visibility.
Safeguard the grocery inventory to reduce spoilage and pilferage.
Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of all equipment to ensure safe, clean, and sanitary operating conditions.
Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise; check and verify receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered; check product for quality, count, and condition.
Keep all grocery items rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest product first (first in, first out), Take stock to applicable storage and shelf areas.
Accurately record markups and markdowns, in-store use of merchandise and bad merchandise/spoilage write-offs in accordance with company policies.
During any slow periods, to stay productive, performing other duties as assigned.
To comply with quality control standards and high customer service methods.
To exhibit an attitude and approach to "get the job done no matter what it takes."
Under the direction of the Dairy and Frozen Manager, mark down outdated products on a daily basis to promote sales of unsold goods and maintain the store-s image for the highest quality for grocery products.
To comply with safety policies and procedures.
Immediately advise department manager of any maintenance or equipment problems.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dairy and Frozen Manager.
PHYSICAL AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess good communication and writing skills.
Must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
Must have basic math and accounting skills to do percentages.
Ability to read, write, and understand English language effectively in order to read and understand written or verbal directions.
Ability to hear, speak and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages for assistance, to accommodate verbal requests from customers for information or assistance, to answer telephones, and be able to communicate effectively with department employees, the store's coworkers and customers.
Ability to fill out forms and compose and write reports.
This position requires and individual capable of sitting, standing for extensive periods of time, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and carrying loads up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
This position might require early morning, late nights and working holiday and weekends.
Must understand and be able to perform basic mathematics and accounting functions related to invoices, transfers and inventory control.
Must be able to read, write, and understand and prepare reports as required.
Understand and interpret instructions and information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment will be completed in a grocery environment.
In a grocery environment, it may include occasional exposure to refrigerated and frozen food storage areas.
