About the OrganizationCSCHS is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California, committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County.
CSCHS comprises Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC - a 731-bed central hospital), O'Connor Hospital (OCH - 358 licensed beds), Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds), and Custody Health Services.
Additionally, CSCHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.
SCVMC hosts four residency and one fellowship training program and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties.

About Custody HealthOur Custody Health services provide integrated care to our population, including internal/family medicine, mental health, dental care, OB/GYN, rehabilitation medicine, and optometry.
The mental health division within custody health services employs 13 providers and includes 59 clinicians (LMFT, MFT, LCSW, CSW) providing therapy, case management, and discharge planning.
We have a team of 8 psychologists providing therapy, risk evaluations, and neuropsychological and psychological testing.
The division is ever-evolving and expanding.
As a custody psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to be part of quality improvement initiatives focused on providing better, more effective care to our patient population and improving staff wellbeing.
In addition to Custody Health, we have a Consultation and Liaison psychiatry service providing inpatient psychiatric consult services to internal medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, trauma, rehab, and the ED.
We foster a collegial work environment integrating acute psychiatric care with acute medical issues and work closely with multiple specialties.
The Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) is the only 24-hour locked psychiatric emergency room providing emergency psychiatric care to residents of Santa Clara County.
Nearly all our patients are on involuntary psychiatric holds (5150's).
Mental Health Urgent Care (MHUC) operates a walk-in crisis clinic with a psychiatrist on duty seven days a week for those seeking voluntary services.
The Barbara Arons Pavilion is the inpatient psychiatric hospital designed to help individuals undergoing a behavioral health crisis.
Inpatient psychiatric hospitalization is available for individuals requiring psychiatric stabilization for behaviors or symptoms assessed as dangerous to themselves or others, or who are gravely disabled and require 24-hour care in a secure and therapeutic setting.
The custody and acute psychiatry services work closely with emergency, inpatient, and outpatient psychiatry teams.
About the PositionsFull-time Chief Psychiatrist in Custody: This position requires board certification in psychiatry or board eligible with a clear plan to get certified.
The preferred candidate will have at least 3 years of progressive medical leadership experience working in custody psychiatry and/or acute inpatient psychiatry services.
This position comes with leadership differential compensation and dedicated administrative time.Consultation and Liaison Psychiatrist: This position requires board eligibility or certification in general psychiatry with experience in consultation liaison psychiatry.
Fellowship training in Consultation Liaison psychiatry is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate will be fellowship board certified in consultation liaison psychiatry and have experience growing programs within an acute care setting.Full-time, part-time, or extra help General Psychiatrist: This position requires board eligibility or certification in general psychiatry.
We have positions in EPS overnight and weekends and at Barbara Arons Pavilion.Part-time opportunities for BE/BC psychiatrists and PGY IVs are also available.About Compensation and BenefitsWe offer competitive compensation, a generous comprehensive benefits package including 54 days of leave per year (36 days of annual leave, 5 days of CME, and 14 holidays), $4500 educational funds, retirement, paid malpractice with tail coverage, a vibrant professional environment, opportunities for career growth, and the chance to serve a multicultural patient population.
