Job Summary

Dahl Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Dietary Cook to join our Dietary Services team.
The Dietary Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to established menu specifications while ensuring that all food safety standards are consistently met.
This role is crucial in providing nutritious and well-prepared meals to our patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities Menu Planning and Meal Preparation: Assist in the planning and preparation of daily meals based on set menus, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.Cooking and Portion Control: Prepare and cook meals following established recipes, ensuring correct portion sizes and high-quality food presentation.Food Safety and Sanitation: Strictly adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.Inventory Management: Monitor food supplies and ingredients, communicating inventory needs to the Dietary Manager to ensure consistent meal preparation without shortages.Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and other departments to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely meal service.Special Diets: Prepare meals that accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, gluten-free) as needed. Experience and Qualifications Previous Experience: Experience in the food industry or catering, particularly in a healthcare setting, is preferred.Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, knife skills, and food preparation methods.Food Safety: Familiarity with food safety standards, including HACCP, and procedures for handling and storing food.Efficiency: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail and organizational skills.Team Player: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff and healthcare professionals. Physical Requirements Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions, such as stirring, chopping, and lifting.Weight Handling: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to [X pounds], such as large pots, trays, and food supplies.
