Full-time, twelve-month tenure track position or lecturer position in Agricultural Education in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting July 1, 2024, or as negotiated.  This is an open-rank position; salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A competitive fringe benefits package is offered. Responsibilities
Deliver high quality undergraduate instruction to students in the Agricultural Education program. Course topics may include SAE/FFA and Leadership, Methods of Teaching Agricultural Education, Methods of Teaching Work-Based Learning, Career Exploration in Agriculture, as well as foundational core education courses, such as Classroom Management in Middle and High School Settings, Educational Psychology, or Introduction to Middle and High School Education and Experiential Learning.  Depending on interest and qualifications, additional course assignments may include supervision of student teaching for Agricultural Education majors (middle school and/or high school), or teaching other courses in the agriculture support core for the Agricultural Education major (Animal Science, Facility Maintenance and Safety, Agricultural Mechanics, Agricultural Food Systems, Beef/Dairy Production, Horticulture, or Agricultural Products and Processing).  
The candidate will be expected to provide leadership and assistance in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives; advise students; participate in program recruitment and retention efforts; help expand the network with industry to benefit programs and student experiences, as well as employment opportunities; provide service to the department, institution, and profession; and work collaboratively with a highly interdisciplinary faculty.  In addition, the candidate is expected to work on collaborative educational initiatives with our technical and community college partners, as well as regional 5-12 school partners.  Additionally, the candidate will be required to work closely with our other Education faculty to ensure continued licensure with the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board, and be active with the Minnesota Association of Agriculture Educators. 
Candidates who wish to be considered for a tenure-line appointment are expected to establish a successful research program with a focus on pedagogy or research in an area relevant to agriculture education. Tenure-line appointments carry a 24.0 credit teaching load (typically four 3.0 credit courses per semester).
Candidates who wish to be considered for a full-time lecturer appointment are not expected to establish a research agenda.  Full-time lecturer appointments carry a 30.0 credit teaching load (typically five 3.0 credit courses per semester). Minimum Qualifications For a tenure-track appointment, we require a Doctorate degree in Agricultural Education or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in the relevant discipline.  ABD will also be considered; For a Lecturer appointment, Masterâ™s degree in Agricultural Education or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in the relevant discipline; At least 3 years of agricultural teaching experience at the secondary level; Currently possess appropriate teaching licensure, or be able to acquire appropriate licensure within one year of starting position; Effective communication skills;  Ability to deliver effective teaching both on campus and online;  Ability to draw upon cultural and community-based knowledge in teaching;  Ability to demonstrate cultural competency within the scope of the land grant mission;  Ability to read, write, and understand English; Commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission. Preferred Qualifications University teaching experience;  Research experience in an academic institution;  Experience in leading teacher professional development projects; Experience with externally funded projects and grants; Familiarity with computer-based instructional technology; Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
