A family-owned firm and leader in funeral service serving metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, seeks a part-time funeral service associate who is committed to exceeding expectations while being engaged, dynamic and able to excel in all aspects of funeral service.
Salary commensurate with experience.
A Funeral Service Associate handles the following duties:
Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concernAnswering phonesGreeting and directing visitorsTransporting deceased to and from funeral homes as directedPreparing space for and attending to funeral servicesReceiving and moving flower arrangementsSupporting and assisting funeral directors to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical serviceMonitoring parking lot activities; prepared to direct traffic Efficiently planning driving routes and arriving at destinations as scheduled
A successful candidate must:
Possess and display an understanding of the funeral professionHave a pleasant and responsive phone mannerHave adaptive/team player attitudeHave professional self-presentationBe resourceful and able to multi-task Be able to stand for extended periods of timeBe able to lift and move up to 60 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequentlyBe able to carefully lift and move deceased individuals Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of professional experiencePossess a valid driver's license and have an insurable driving record
This is a part time position, typically 10-15 hours weekly with a varying schedule consisting mostly of evenings and weekends.
An applicant needs availability Monday thru Friday from 5:00pm-9:30pm and on weekends from 8:00am-9:00pm.
Qualified candidates must have strong communication skills and the tact and ability to perform in dynamic and sometimes stressful conditions.
Standing and lifting are required.
