About the roleAs Slash's Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel, you'll be responsible for building and leading our legal and compliance framework as we scale our fintech platform.
You'll work closely with our executive team to navigate the complex regulatory landscape of banking and payments while enabling rapid product innovation.
What you'll be doing: Lead the development and implementation of Slash's legal and compliance strategy, including policy creation, risk assessment, and regulatory engagement
Own all customer-facing legal documentation including terms of service, privacy policies, and commercial agreements
Serve as the primary legal representative in dealings with partner banks, regulators, and other financial institutions
Provide strategic counsel to the product and business teams on new features and initiatives, ensuring compliance while enabling innovation
Build and manage relationships with outside counsel while handling key matters in-house
Develop and maintain our compliance management system, including policies, procedures, and training programs
Lead internal investigations and manage regulatory examinations when needed
Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements with enterprise customers and strategic partners
We're looking for someone who: Has 10+ years of legal experience, with significant focus in fintech, banking, or payments
Holds a J.D.
from an accredited law school and is an active member of the California State Bar
Brings deep expertise in federal and state banking regulations, including BSA/AML requirements
Has demonstrable experience creating and implementing compliance programs in a regulated environment
Possesses exceptional attention to detail and strong documentation practices
Demonstrates excellent judgment and communication skills, with ability to explain complex legal concepts to various stakeholders
Has experience managing relationships with banking partners and regulators
Shows track record of balancing business objectives with regulatory requirements
Bonus points for Previous experience as General Counsel or CCO at a fintech company
Experience with card issuing programs and payment networks
Background in working with early-stage, high-growth companies
Knowledge of crypto/blockchain regulations
Experience building and leading legal/compliance teams
Understanding of international banking regulations
