The GM of Japan will drive business growth for Tenneco Japan, carrying full profit and loss responsibilities, achieving business targets, growing business to full potential with high margin. He/she will lead the country team and core functions such as operations, sales, PM, engineering, purchasing, as well as act in the administration role of general functions including HR, Finance, and IT in this region, and aim to build a talented team to ensure operation excellence and the delivery of our commitments to customers.
Job Responsibilities: Develops with the management board and the regional management team the strategic directions for the territory and for individual plants.Monitors the implementation and realization of strategic initiatives, measures, and plans in the sense of successful business development to drive business growth of CTOH & LV in JOE.Provides thought leadership and input to countries, strategy formulation and execution, footprint, talent management, and commercial management.Has ownership and accountability for decisions impacting Financial Performance and ensures financial profitability of Japan.Plays an active role in senior-level negotiations with client companies and all business partners, takes more global leadership for JOE business, and provides support on the development of JOE business in other countries.Ensures customer satisfaction by offering excellent services in quality, delivery in time, and high-performance standards towards customer needs and successful launches.Optimizes plant efficiency by continuous improvement activities of all operations and services while ensuring compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and safety rules.Implements and mentors internal metrics, identifies synergies within the region, and applies best practice methods to achieve operation excellence, customer satisfaction, and maximum profit.Plans, coordinates, and completes the annual budget and the medium-term plans.Monitors the budget and reports detailed monthly performance and forecasts to the management board.Ensures a meaningful reporting and information system for the region under consideration of global standards.Reviews the existing organization and defines the appropriate competences in line with the business strategy and targets.Drives necessary change processes within the territory, and leads, motivates, and coaches the team in change management.Builds up a result-oriented company culture through strong team spirit and good internal communication.Develops strong leadership in the organization to build up a high-performance team.Ensures compliance with all internal and external regulations.Steers all necessary internal and external management activities towards employees, customers, suppliers, and public government authorities.Responsible for internal and external communication and maintains smooth relationships with local authorities.Key Requirements: 15+ years of progressively responsible experience leading operations in the Auto industry with a footprint in Japan. Additional experience in South East Asia is preferred.Strong operational background with in-depth knowledge of the Auto industry and thorough understanding of the Auto market, especially Japan OEM customers. Experience in commercial chuck and off-highway business would be a plus.Visionary leader with a demonstrated track record of success operating in APAC.Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and execute strategies to grow business and market share.Demonstrated strategic planning experience and strong P&L management.Strong organizational agility, drive for results, cultural awareness, and expertise in networking and building effective global relationships internally and externally.High level of regulatory knowledge required to sustain and grow business within established industry guidelines and requirements.Excellent communication skills, including strong fluency in English.Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
