Donlin Gold is recruiting a General Manager for one of the world's largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned and operated by Donlin Gold LLC, which is owned equally by affiliates of Barrick Gold and NOVAGOLD Resources. Donlin Gold is designed to be one of just a handful of gold mines worldwide that produces more than one million ounces of gold annually.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The General Manager for the Donlin Gold Project will hold a pivotal leadership role in advancing the project up the value chain. Based out of the project office in Anchorage, Alaska, the General Manager will report directly to the Board of Directors of the Joint Venture, comprised of representatives from NOVAGOLD Resources Inc. and Barrick Gold U.S. Inc. This executive position is tasked with advancing the Donlin Gold project through the value chain by providing oversight of strategic planning, execution, and risk management of the project, one of the world's largest undeveloped gold deposits, to ensure all study element objectives are delivered safely and on budget, as defined by the Board of Directors. The role demands a results-driven, dynamic and visionary leader who can effectively integrate the strategic directives from the Board with the operational realities of the project. The General Manager will ensure that the project's objectives align with the expectations of both joint venture partners and that these objectives are met with the highest standards of safety and environmental practices, in close collaboration with local communities and authorities. The position entails comprehensive project management responsibilities, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement within the project scope. The position also includes travel to other locations, including the Yukon-Kuskokwim region of Alaska and the project site, located approximately 280 miles (450km) Northwest of Anchorage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead by example and provide guidance and feedback to team members, upholding the highest safety and environmental standards. Develop and manage work plans and budgets, as guided and approved by the Board and technical committee, and provide timely reporting and forecasts on a monthly basis. Coordinate and manage all aspects of project studies, including mining and mineral processing options, hydrogeological and geotechnical studies, environmental studies, Indigenous engagement, and all governmental and other statutory approvals required to support development. Ensure staffing needs are met and the effectiveness of Integrated Project Teams, across disciplines. Champion business initiatives, including on Safety and Continuous Improvement. Promote and implement effective Project Management practices in accordance with industry best practices. Be creative and promote new ways of doing things to maximize the value of mineral resources. Enhance Donlin's license to operate by playing a key role in community relations and external stakeholders, engaging regularly with key partners, including, among others, Calista and TKC. Maintain existing permits and secure remaining project permits and updated or amended permits as necessary. Ensure compliance to all legal, regulatory, and contractual responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: 10-15 years of project leadership Previous experience as study manager, area manager, engineering manager or project manager preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Geology or related discipline. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Extensive mining and/or development studies experience with an understanding of the various components required to make a mine a successful operation (e.g., processing, tailings, infrastructure). Substantial experience working in a remote mining project setting. Experience managing capital cost expenditures related to a major project. Knowledge of pertinent Federal and Alaska State Laws and Regulations and permitting processes. Strong experience managing key partner relationships. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to present detailed and complicated concepts and information succinctly. Ability to evaluate alternative options and recommend a preferred solution while outlining benefits and downside risks. Ability to work with various stakeholders and gain alignment. A demonstrated history of delivering results. A post-offer background screening, physical and drug test are required.
