The General Manager will report directly to the Area Director of Operation.
Convene at 30 Hudson Yards offers an extraordinary event destination across 72,000 square feet on the building's 24th floor, featuring ten uniquely designed event spaces, including a grand hall that can accommodate up to 780 guests.
The venue can also host full buyouts for up to 1,495 guests!
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event production, team leadership, client relations, and budget management, with a passion for creating innovative and immersive experiences.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our live event division, ensuring exceptional event delivery, and driving growth within a fast-paced and creative environment.
What You'll Do: The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property management at a single-location unit, ensuring alignment with Convene's vision, mission, values, and core principles.
Comply with Convene standards and protocols to deliver premium hospitality experienceEffectively communicate via verbal and written correspondence with all level of employees and clients; exhibiting GRIT in all interactionsWork dynamically and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlinesApproach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented mannerOversee and coordinate the setup and execution of all functions with the Service, Production, Technology, Workplace and Culinary departmentsCoach, mentor and develop all level of employeesMaximize efforts towards productivity by identifying problem areas and implementing solutionsResponsible for overseeing the Property teams including hiring, staffing, scheduling, training, payroll, and conducting performance reviews in accordance with Convene standardsEnsure and maintain the cleanliness and physical state of all conference, workplace and/or amenity spacesAttend and run meetings in accordance to Convene meeting cadence, running efficient and productive agendas.
Oversee daily and weekly PEO meetings as well as weekly staff meetingsResponsible for controlling and maintaining all service equipment, communicating with facilities management and outside vendors to ensure all equipment remains in working order.Create and maintain positive relationships with building managementWork with sales manager and other conference planning manager to ensure accuracy of SalesforceDevelop client relationships to ensure a successful eventOversee Production, Technology, and Workplace team and ensure proper planning, upselling, detailing, proper room blocks, and professional communication to clientsBuild relationships with all local competitors and surrounding businessesWork closely with Sales, Revenue, Finance and Corp Ops on monthly P&L review, monthly forecasting and during annual budget processResponsible for driving impactful financial decisions that positively impact the monthly P&L results and present out through Monthly, Quarterly, and Year End Operational ReportingWorking cross functionally throughout the organization to create and execute strategic planning for the betterment of the operationConfirm that all payroll reports are accurate prior to approval and that all employees are compensated properly for their timeWhat We Look For: Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality managing experiential live events or at least 3 years in a senior lead roleAbility to lead and develop other team membersAbility to work effectively with clientsFlexible and long hours sometimes requiredAbility to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistanceAbility to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stoopingAbility to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of timeCompensation: Base Salary:
Salary Min: $120,000 Salary Max: $140,000
This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.
Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
