Position Overview:
The General Manager of Trade and Commercial Sales oversees the success of the Trade Commercial Sales departments, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and objectives. This position leads a team of Sales Managers across the DFW metroplex and West Texas, focusing on customer satisfaction, market share growth, and profitability. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager plays a pivotal role in developing strategic initiatives, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and driving the overall success of the Trade & Commercial Sales
divisions.
Strategic Leadership and Planning: - Actively participate in the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the company's vision and strategic planning.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives for the Trade & Commercial Sales divisions to support company objectives.
- Analyze market trends, emerging opportunities, and competitive insights to identify growth areas and adjust strategies accordingly.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Directly oversee Trade Sales Managers, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Build a high-performing team culture through engagement, training, and motivation.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in the sales process by guiding managers in implementing best practices.
- Develop succession plans and long-term strategies for team growth and talent retention.
Sales Oversight and Execution:
- Establish sales quotas, goals, and metrics for the Trade & Commercial Sales department, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
- Monitor performance and provide data-driven insights to the team for continuous improvement.
- Maintain visibility by dedicating time to ride-alongs, showroom visits, job sites, and contractor locations.
- Lead the development and enforcement of pricing, margin, and profitability strategies.
Operational Excellence and Integration:
- Act as the liaison between the Trade Sales team and other departments, including order fulfillment, service, HR, and finance, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Oversee the department's budget, including revenue goals, spending, and returns/allowances.
- Develop, document, and implement processes to drive consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Client and Market Engagement:
- Serve as the primary representative for the company's Trade & Commercial Sales divisions with contractors, builders, and key accounts.
- Participate in contractor events, showroom activities, and industry networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility.
- Support the Marketing Team with campaigns and trade promotions, ensuring alignment with sales goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in sales leadership, preferably in building materials, construction, or related industries.
- Proven success in leading and managing sales teams to meet and exceed targets.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance high-level responsibilities and hands-on team support.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, OMS-order management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
