Reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment and Litigation, the Global Immigration Paralegal will advise and lead our global immigration program and partner directly with corporate and operating company business leaders, HR, and visa-sponsored employees. This role requires leveraging immigration expertise with knowledge of business objectives while collaborating effectively with business leaders across our operating companies.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary internal contact and subject matter expert for all immigration matters.
Providing ad-hoc candidate assessments, job move assessments, permanent residency feasibility assessments to TA and HR teams, including cost and timing estimates.
Responding to questions from foreign national employees via email and ticketing systems.
Provides necessary information to HR and hiring managers considering international assignments or international hires.
Primary internal SME for E-Verify, I-9 and right-to-work questions.
Manage communication with external counsel when internal knowledge is not available.
Provide immigration-related guidance for remote work questions.
Provide immigration-related guidance for mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructuring.
Develop and maintain standard work and internal sponsorship policies, ensuring continued compliance with changing regulations.
Gather feedback/VOC from managers, legal and HR to determine policies which best serve the business and employees.
Keep abreast of fast-paced changing immigration regulations and laws.
Review and sign all US immigration matter government forms, including the required posting of Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) and PERM Notices.
Includes the creation and maintenance of Public Access File (PAFs).
Manage PERM resume collection, work closely with hiring managers and HRBPs to ensure resume review is conducted in manner compliant with Department of Labor regulations.
Maintain content for SharePoint site as point of self-service for employees, managers, TA and HR.
Conduct quarterly open information sessions for US-based visa-sponsored employees.
Topics: visa stamping for employees, series of three green card presentations (introduction, specific information for employees, specific information for managers).
Ensure visas, work permits and expiration dates for all visa-sponsored employees globally are accurately recorded in HRIS.
Run regular reporting, obtain cost approval, and initiate extensions and permanent residency for visa-sponsored employees globally.
Manage annual H-1B Cap Process:
Conduct series of H-1B Cap presentations (introduction, specific information for employees, specific information for managers, and specific information for the At-Risk List).
Identify and confirm employees for the Queue. Advice on profiles for inclusion in the Queue.
Conduct individual At Risk information sessions and oversee calls with managers and employees regarding contingency planning (partnering with Talent Management as needed).
Maintain reports to track timely submission of registrations, selections and petitions.
Provide labor and employment subject matter expertise for all questions related to employers of record, hosting and secondments. Review and maintain relevant reference documents.
Manage relationship with external immigration vendor, including reviewing and approving all invoices.
Provide guidance on Business Travel visas, track travel restrictions, ensure compliance with international business travel regulations, and manage external business visa vendor relationship.
Create program-level immigration updates to keep leaders/stakeholders aware of legislative or process changes that would impact their employees or organization.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 years' experience focused on US immigration, processes, and policies.
A minimum of 2 years' experience with immigration from any of the following countries: Canada, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Poland and/or APAC.
Demonstrated success in supporting large-scale immigration programs.
Success in independently driving forward initiatives of broad scope & complexity (e.g., Global or Business unit-wide).
Advanced ability to build rapport with client groups to positively influence decisions at senior leadership levels.
Understanding of business needs with capability in leveraging immigration expertise to meet those needs.
Analytical capability with proficiency in managing Excel analysis and SharePoint.
