Primary Responsibilities Market Sector Directors (MSD) are one part of the HDR matrix management structure that drive our business. The primary responsibilities of the Global Maritime Market Sector Director are divided into three areas:
Market leadership and business development (+/- 60%)Staff development (20%)Support to Operations (20%)Market Sector Directors serve to set the vision for the firm's strategy to expand and provide services to clients in the associated market sector. The Market Sector Director will facilitate the development and implementation of business strategies in coordination with Business Group leadership, operational leadership, client managers, business class directors, and practice group leaders.
Business Development Responsibilities Oversee the creation and implementation of strategic vision and direction for the market sector.Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients within the market sector.Engage in selected projects as Principal-In-Charge.Promote the marketing and delivery of all HDR services to clients within the market sector.Participate as a member of the Transportation Business Group Management Team.Identify key investments that will maintain or drive HDR into an industry leadership position.Staff Development Responsibilities Assume responsibility for Global Market Sector P&L in coordination with local area managers.Coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist local leadership as necessary with local hires.Participate in Annual Performance Conversations for key market sector leaders.Support to Operations The Market Sector Director will assist Regional Business Group Directors and area Business Group managers in the delivery of professional services for area projects within the market sector. Key responsibilities include helping to drive client management, monitoring and taking action regarding market sector profit and loss, reviewing staff assignments, and ensuring project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications Minimum 20 years of experience in planning/engineering in the global trade arena.Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning, or a related field.Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field.A minimum of 12 years industry experience including leadership.Strong skills in client management and development.What We Believe HDR is our company.
