Summary
The Visual Arts-Photography Graduate Assistant (GA) assists with the maintenance and supervision of the photography labs and studios, the printing labs, and the Andy Gato Galley.
Scope of responsibilities incudes: maintaining equipment and supplies inventories, monitoring compliance with health and safety standards, assisting with preparation for events, providing general assistance in related venues to faculty and students.
Contract is from August 15 to May 15, with an option for renewal based on performanceHours of work per week- 10-15 hoursCompensation: tuition waiver and $15.00 hourly wage Essential Functions Photo Lab Duties Maintaining all standards for the safety and well-being of the students and facilities.Assisting students with use of facilities.Managing photography equipment rentalsMaintaining photography labs, equipment and repairing equipment when possible.Managing the inventory of photographic equipment and supplies.Managing the inventory of photographic supplies.Oversee silver recovery and all safety protocols for photography studiosproper disposal of hazardous wasteUpdating all MSDS sheets for photography labs.Working and coordinating jobs with other lab techs.Oversight over student lab monitors Printing Lab Duties Organize/clean labs and print roomKeep inventory of ink/paper and misc supplies that are in useReport and track technical issues to SupervisorBasic problem solving and printer maintenance adjustments/cleaningAssist Students with Printing

Gallery Duties Keep inventory of gallery supplies and toolsMaintain schedule of cleaning duties for gallery monitorsSupervise Organize/clean gallery work roomAssist with reception set-ups (45 minutes prior)Assist with reception clean-ups/lock upsAssist with the return of artwork following the close of the exhibitionAssist with preparing the gallery for artworkAssist with the hanging of exhibitionsAttend receptionsAssisting with lighting of work.
