Role:
OSC is seeking a Junior/Graduate Marine Consultant to become a member of its team. The Junior/Graduate Marine Consultant will work in multiple disciplines and offshore sectors, including, but not limited to, renewables, construction, oil and gas, and provide advice for environmental impact assessments, licencing, equipment specifications, project design and management. Experience in the field is preferable and knowledge of the following are desirable: cameras (RGB & IR), sonars, C-PODs/F-PODs, noise measurement, Passive Acoustic Monitoring (arrays/buoys/static recorders), ADCPs, acoustic releases, buoys, mooring configurations, etc.
The successful candidate will be involved in project management with the support of the Consultancy team, liaising with and building positive relationship with stakeholders and clients, as well as preparing and submitting tenders and proposals, marine licencing, EIAs, and client reporting.Responsibilities: Assist with providing mitigation advice for offshore industries;Logistics and freight management for offshore projects worldwide;Assist with proposals, tenders, and vendor databases/questionnaires;Quality control and supervision of databases, data collection, and report writing;Contribute to marketing initiatives, preparing marketing literature, social media posts, seeking new work opportunities and contacts/networking;Assist with management of contractors;Technical, financial, and contractual management to OSC & client requirements;Maintain strong client communication to sustain and develop long-term relationships;Assist in successful project delivery to meet targets and work within budget and programme scope;EIA, HRA, MMMP, and client report preparation;Assist with training and knowledge sharing; and,Development/improvement of company policies and maintaining ISO certification. The successful candidate will have the following: Required: At least one year's experience in this industry;Legally permitted to work in UK prior to employment;Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. marine biology, oceanography, or environmental science);Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams);Able to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively, achieving results against tight deadlines;Genuine interest about the business, and the industry; and,Commercially aware, discreet, and able to handle sensitive information. Desirable: Knowledge and experience of environmental surveys (e.g. water & sediment sampling);Offshore fieldwork experience (e.g. MMO/PAM/Environmental Scientist);Prior project management and financial management experience;Experience working in marine sectors;MMO and PAM training;Offshore survival certifications (e.g. BOSIET & medical); and,Full, clean UK drivers licence.
