(2nd Shift) Job Title: Metal Fab Group Lead
Department: Metal Fab
Reports to: Production Manager
Job Summary: To organize and communicate work assignments to the Set-up Operators, Set Up/Run Operators, and Machine operators assigned to the department, plan and provide materials needed for workstations, and assist the Production Supervisor in any specified activities.
Essential Functions: Reviews production schedule to plan the tools, routers, and materials needed for set-ups per the production schedule.Provides training to set-up operators on setting up workstations.Monitors and verifies the work of set-up operators and machine operators.Validates production routes for current processes.Assists the Production Managers with any problems / scheduling.Retrieves router from Production Control and determines material needs and tools required.Sets up machinery per the specifications according to production schedule.Runs first part for production and assures proper dimensions.Reviews router with Machine Operator. Instructs machine operator on proper part forming for production and assures that proper safety equipment is in use.Completes proper documentation (i.e. Quality Verification Sheet, Router and Set Up Record).Completes Deviation Requests as necessary.May use Fabrivision to inspect parts.Follows all safety guidelines.Handles other essential tasks as assigned.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to set-up and operate single / coil press, brake press, CNC turrets, resistance welders, etc.Ability to use measuring tools (i.e., tape measures, micrometers, calipers, etc.)Ability to read blueprints.Must be mechanically inclined.Ability to operate an industrial forklift.Verbal and written communication skills.Reading and basic math skills.Ability to think analytically and be self-motivated.Close attention and care are required to prevent damage to complex machine tools.Frequent standing and walking.Ability to lift or move typically 20-50 lbs.Other physical demands – stooping, kneeling, handling, etc.Ability to work overtime on short notice.Qualifications: Knowledge of setting up metal fabrication type machinery (i.e., single / coil press, brake press, CNC turrets, resistance welders, etc.), 5+ years of experience in related field.Ability to operate a forklift. Previous certification preferred.
