As Head of Accounting North America, you will be responsible for delivering North America's final accounting statements for around 21 legal entities, together with your team!
Sinch Finance department is currently going through a big transformation, which provides a great opportunity for you to have a significant impact, and make a mark, on Finance Operations and Sinch as a whole. Two of the projects that are ongoing are the implementation of a new global ERP system and creating a new process governance where you and your team will be heavily involved.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Operations North America, the role is based in the US, preferably at either our Chicago, IL or Plymouth, MN office location.
Responsibilities:Manage 5 direct reports and develop a positive and inclusive team cultureDefine and follow up on critical metrics and be responsible for identifying competency needs and planning competency development for the teamBe accountable for delivering financial statements for the legal entities within the North America region, ensuring all deadlines are metLead the monthly accounting activities (e.g., recording journal entries, intercompany eliminations, balance sheet variance analysis, income statement variance analysis, and account reconciliations) and ensure all revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, and in accordance with IFRSOwn and assist projects within the accounting scope related to finance ERP transformationEnsures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closePrepares monthly financial statements, management reporting package and other ad hoc reporting requirementsAssists in establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices and proceduresReview monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and explain variances to historical periods and forecast as applicable.Manage and coordinate preparation of internal and external audit schedulesCollaborate with colleagues to secure information and resolve issues, including partnering with other groups (e.g. Billing and Collections, Network Cost, Engineering) as it relates to the preparation of accurate financial statementsCoordinate responses to financial requests from Group ReportingResearch and document complex and complicated accounting transactions applicable within the region to review with Group Accounting for final conclusionsDrive the implementation of new policies and procedures as applicable to meet changing business demandsDegree in Bachelor's, preferrable Accounting10+ of industry accounting experience, telecommunications preferable, with 3-5 years of public accounting experience5+ years experience managing a team of at least 43+ years as an assistant controller or controller preferredExperience working in an accounting department of a global companyProven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, inclusive of strong multi-tasking skills and a focus on meeting deadlinesStrong communication skills, with the ability to adapt the content and language to the audienceExperience in accelerating the monthly close processExperience with ERP implementationsExtensive work experience in accounting and financial statements, preferably with experience in developing final account processes, as well as creating new routines and processes with shown good resultsExperience of leading ERP transformation, and projectsLeadership experienceExperience in a global complex company, preferably listed companyMust be located in either Central or Eastern Standard Time ZoneFluent in English, both verbal and written skillsOur ValuesAt Sinch we "Dream Big", "Win Together", "Keep it simple" and "Make it Happen". Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.This position is also eligible for bonus.
