Head of Business Development Opportunity for Lower Middle Market Emerging Private Equity Firm raising 1st FundAbout our Private Equity Client:Our client, a successful independent sponsor based in Miami, is on track to close their inaugural fund in Q3 2024, raising $150M. They specialize in identifying and acquiring founder-owned businesses in fragmented industries, unlocking growth potential through strategic acquisitions and operational improvements. Their collaborative approach ensures close partnerships with management and stakeholders.
Focusing on Residential Services, Business Services, Value-Added Distribution, and Specialty Manufacturing, they target lower middle market companies with EBITA between $3M-$10M and revenues ranging from $20M-$150M.
With a proven track record of 25 majority investments across 3 platforms and 2 very successful exits, they are expanding their team and seeking to recruit an Investment Team Partner and a Business Development Director. The current team includes the Founding Partner, 2 Operating Partners, and 2 Vice Presidents.
Position Overview: Deal Team PartnerThe Deal Team Partner will play a critical role in growing and managing the firm, including sourcing, executing, and managing new and existing investments. This individual will grow, lead and mentor the private equity team, working closely with the firm's leadership and portfolio companies to instill best practices, drive growth, and create value.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Lower Middle Market (LMM) (preferred) or Middle Market (MM) private equity in similar industries, strong deal-making capabilities, and a robust network of industry contacts.
Responsibilities:Investment Sourcing and Execution: Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective deals.Build and leverage a network of industry contacts, intermediaries, and advisors to source deals.Lead due diligence processes, including financial analysis, market research, and operational assessments.Develop investment theses and present recommendations to the investment committee.Negotiate deal terms, structure transactions, and oversee legal documentation.Portfolio Management: Serve on the boards of portfolio companies and provide strategic guidance.Work with management teams to develop and implement value-creation plans.Engage in the early stages of building and growing firm investments, involving hands-on operational work.Monitor financial and operational performance, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies.Firm Leadership and Development: Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the firm.Train and mentor deal team members to help them develop and integrate into the firm's culture.Lead and manage teams, ensuring that junior staff members are adequately supported and guided.Represent the firm at industry conferences, events, and in the media.Work Culture and Expectations: Emphasize a hands-on approach, especially during the early stages of employment, with a strong cultural foundation set by being physically present in the office.Maintain a focus on accountability and high performance without micromanagement, achieving results and upholding high standards.Qualifications:Experience: Significant experience in LMM (ideal) and/or MM private equity is required.
