Job DescriptionThe Head of Elan Cards leads U.S. Bank's Elan Financial Services organization which currently serves over 1,300 Financial Institution partners. Elan offers outsourced, white labeled credit card programs and other services to financial institutions to serve their consumer and small business customers while generating $1.3B in annual revenue.
The Head of Elan will be responsible for managing, growing, and deepening our Partner FI franchise across the credit card products of U.S. Bank. S/he will create shareholder value, grow market share, and accelerate revenue by building deeper relationships with our partners which will in turn result in higher penetration of credit products into the partners' consumer and small business customer bases. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the company's leadership team and applicable business partners to build and deepen client relationships and bring the best of U.S. Bank to our FI partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive Profitable Growth: In partnership with company leadership, develop and execute a winning growth strategy for our Elan FI partners. Identify opportunities and gaps and provide a roadmap for the future for competitive market differentiation which delivers sustainable scale and increased market share.
Provide leadership: Lead, motivate, and inspire a diverse, cross functional employee population to fulfill the strategic objectives of the business. Attract, retain, and develop a high performing team, committed to achieving success. Develop a pipeline of future talent within the business, and source external top talent as the business continues to expand.
Develop Differentiated Customer Experiences: Build and lead a culture of service and growth with existing and new customers, integrating U.S. Bank as a key, trusted partner in their overall business operation.
Manage ethics and compliance: Actively ensure compliance with all U.S. Bancorp policies and procedures such as Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements. Operate the business in accordance with U.S. Bank's risk appetite and risk management parameters. Identify, understand, and communicate all material risks. Mitigate risk by meeting policy, procedure, and governance standards.
TALENT PROFILE/ KEY SKILLS
The Head of Elan is a senior leader within the Payments Business who has demonstrated extensive P&L leadership experience. S/he will have a strong track record of leveraging business strategy and key relationship management to drive growth and will have a firm grasp on all other levers of the P&L including marketing, sales and relationship management, and credit. The successful candidate will also have a track record of collaborating effectively with key partners and will be able to establish strong relationships with Product, Finance and Credit teams. The Head of Elan will be an accomplished people leader and a strong talent magnet.
Proven P&L leadership experience at scale.
A track record of driving growth and achieving profitability objectives in the Payments or Partnership space.
15+ years of Payments and Banking experience.
Ideally gained in increasingly larger roles with direct experience with both consumers and partners. A strong track record of driving positive outcomes in B-to-B-to-C relationships is a must.
Strong academics.
Bachelor's degree or comparable academic training is required. MBA or higher desirable.

Review performance and progress on a regular basis to ensure the business is meeting/exceeding its growth, profitability, and operational objectives, including revenue, expense ratios, return on investment, and customer penetration.
Set continually higher goals that are ambitious but realistic and aligned with U.S. Bank's overall strategy and risk parameters.
Acting Strategically: In a competitive environment, where product differentiation and customer experience are critical to success in the marketplace, this leader must drive outcomes for the business, and the organization, by:
Partnering with U.S. Bank's leadership to create a compelling vision and strategy for the Elan business, positioning the organization to achieve heightened scale and market share.
Proactively monitoring all technological advancements/disruptive business models to ensure U.S. Bank's business remains relevant and innovative, especially as it relates to providing a best-in-class customer experience.
Collaborating and Influencing: The Head of Elan will collaborate with leadership and other senior colleagues by:
Engaging U.S. Bank colleagues, including enterprise leadership, in a dialogue to gain commitment and support for the business, its strategic priorities, and the necessary investments required to achieve both financial and operational objectives.
Using well thought out influencing strategies, adapted to U.S. Bank's organization, people, and each specific situation.
Taking initiative to systematically build and maintain relationships and support at multiple levels, across businesses, functions, and regions.
