Responsibilities & what we are looking for Want to lead a global team and make an impact?
At LEMAN, we are not here to just keep the wheels turning—we are here to transform global logistics. As our Head of Ocean Freight- Americas, you will take the helm of our ocean freight division and shape its future. You will be at the center of everything, from negotiating global ocean freight deals to uniting regional teams under a single bold vision.
This role is not about maintaining the status quo. It is about creating smarter ways of working, streamlining processes, and setting new industry standards. If you are ready to see the big picture and roll up your sleeves, we want to hear from you.
What you will be doing Shaping Procurement Strategies: You will be at the forefront of negotiation with global carriers, ensuring our freight rates are competitive, and that we build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with shipping lines. Empowering Regional Teams: Picture yourself mentoring regional heads to solve challenges in their markets while ensuring they are fully equipped to implement the global strategy. You will foster an environment where ideas flow and collaboration thrive. Driving Innovation: No two days are the same. One week, you might be piloting a new automated system for booking; the next, introducing digitized dashboards that provide real-time freight insights. Navigating Industry Challenges: The freight industry is unpredictable. Whether it is tackling supply chain disruptions or seizing opportunities in emerging markets, you will be leading the charge, adapting to a changing landscape with creativity and grit. Who Are We Looking For We need someone who thrives in complexity and can confidently unite people, processes, and partners under a shared vision. You will combine big-picture thinking with meticulous execution to ensure everything moves in the right direction, even when the seas get rough.
Locations: Peachtree City (GA), Doral (FL), Cranford (NJ), Oakbrook (IL), El Segundo (CA), Sturtevant (WI)
In your application, we hope to see: A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Leadership experience in ocean freight or logistics, including managing diverse, cross-regional teams. A track record of successful procurement, operational oversight, and commercial strategy. Experience with automation, digitization, and using data-driven approaches to solve complex challenges. Real-world examples of leading during high-pressure, unpredictable situations. What's Not Perfect Here (Yet): Unifying global strategies while embracing regional differences is no small feat, and neither is digitizing an industry that relies on traditional methods. You will be walking into a challenging role, but with the freedom to drive change and the support of a team that is committed to backing bold ideas.
