Private Equity Head of Originations About the Role This role is on a fund team of this middle-market PE firm with offices in Miami, FL. This fund primarily invests a minority stake in fast-growing, founder-owned companies. The firm has $6B AUM as a whole and is investing out of their third fund in this category which is heavily oversubscribed and closed at $700 million.
Key Responsibilities Market mapping the non-control private equity landscape. Develop close relationships with all relevant intermediaries (i.e. investment bankers, business brokers, law firms, accounting firms, etc.) in the M&A community. Systematically meet (in-person and virtual) with referral sources and intermediaries to educate and explain Fund's unique value proposition. Coordinating high-profile PR / thought leadership opportunities for senior Fund professionals; attending M&A conferences and trade shows. Generate strong "brand awareness" around the Fund offering via podcasts, keynote addresses, panel discussions, sponsorship opportunities, and other relevant venues. Develop and leverage relationships with Centers of Influence ("COIs") to drive familiarity with Fund and access new networks. Coordinate and lead live Fund pitches at major law firms, accounting firms, and other relevant M&A professional firms/organizations. Attend relevant conferences/trade shows (i.e. M&A conferences, growth conferences, industry trade shows). Effectively communicate the Firm's unique value proposition(s) to intermediaries, service providers, and business owners. Articulate specific details of Firm's non-control equity structure and advantages of this offering. Analyze deal opportunities, assess potential fit, and guide the deal to the correct deal team(s). Build a prominent personal/professional brand, including:
Becoming an active member and/or leader in local ACG chapter(s) and at least one other professional networking organization. Being a speaker/panelist on numerous events per year. Organizing and hosting numerous Fund-branded events. Posting actively to social media (i.e. LinkedIn). Promptly and meticulously enter all activity into DealCloud CRM. Lead or support ad hoc project work as necessary. Education and Experience Requirements Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Minimum of six years of experience in a business development role in financial services. Minimum of four years of experience in a mergers & acquisitions-related capacity. Strong financial acumen and analytical skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite, DealCloud, Salesforce, or another top-tier CRM platform. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Robust rolodex of existing M&A relationships a plus. Sell-side or buy-side deal-making or deal structuring experience is a plus.
