enke: Make Your Mark (enke) is a leadership development organisation that generates and incubates youth-led social impact.
The organisation is seeking to appoint a new Head of Programs (HOP). The Head of Programs will lead the strategy and execution of all enke programs, overseeing program development, high-quality implementation, evaluation and research, and continuous improvement of the program models. The Head of Programs will also oversee expansion of enke to new provinces, ensuring fidelity and guiding enke's growth as a leader in the youth development sector nationally. As part of the senior management team, the Head of Programs is a full-time position based in Johannesburg, South Africa reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
The Head of Programs will also work closely with the Head of Operations & Finance. The Head of Programs has ultimate responsibility for all staff and volunteers who are directly involved in the implementation of enke's programmatic activities.
Role/Contracting: Full Time, Minimum 3-year commitment with option to renew
Salary: R520,000 – R625,000 annual gross, total cost to company (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Johannesburg at enke Headquarters in Hurlingham. Hybrid working environment (minimum 2 office days per week). Some travel expected.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES The prospective Head of Programs will be responsible for:
Program Development, Design and Management: Oversee development and implementation of all program-related strategies. Ultimate responsibility for design, execution, assessment, and continuous improvement across all enke programs.Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the programmatic operation of the organization and ensure that the expectations of funders, partners, participants, and community stakeholders are met.Stakeholder Relationship Management: Oversee the fulfilment of contract requirements and contract reporting for all Programs and providing expertise and advice to staff in order to facilitate collaboration and partnerships with external stakeholders.Strategic Planning: Participate as a thought partner to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Operations and the Board of Directors in setting organizational goals and strategy and developing plans for execution and implementation.Impact Assessment, Monitoring and Measurement: Exploring innovative solutions and thinking creatively to identify solutions that will maximise our impact on the ground. Integrating and ongoing management of effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks into programme design.Financial Management: Working closely with the Head of Operations to ensure the financial viability and sustainability of the organization by managing programs effectively within the budget and reporting accurately on the progress made and challenges encountered.Requirements Qualifications & Experience At least 5 years of work experience in the nonprofit or social investment sector at least 2 of which are in leadership/management positions.Relevant tertiary qualification – minimum undergraduate degree required.Program development experience; familiarity with program evaluation; a record of achievement as an innovator; hands-on program experience, ideally in youth leadership, facilitation, community development.The life experience and personality that will generate credibility with clients, staff and funders; able to engage positively with participants; familiar with the challenges faced by those served by enke: Make Your Mark.Assertive decision-maker – Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, related risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.Visionary – able to lead strategic planning efforts.Outstanding problem solver – Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.A highly effective and skilled communicator; a good listener; actively seeks opinions of others in decision-making; consultative; able to inspire confidence and trust.Possessing the charisma and personality that motivates and inspires others.Someone who can balance a creative approach with the need to develop and follow a plan.Relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing organization-wide strategies for program excellence, engaging community partners and working closely within the senior leadership team.Ability to travel extensively with some work on weekends and evenings to provide on-site leadership to programs.Ability to engage with people of diverse backgrounds, particularly young people.Submit a motivation letter highlighting your leadership, achievements and experience aligned with the skills and requirements outlined above.Submit an updated CV (maximum 2 pages).Please send your application documents to ******** by 5:30pm, Friday 30th August 2024 with the subject heading – "Application – enke Head of Programs".Contact will only be made with shortlisted candidates.
